We had a client start a really interesting promotion via Facebook this week. The elements of the promotion are quite simple and yet pretty ingenious. Here's the jist of it:
The client created their own station branded "Group" on Facebook.com's social networking site, and set up administration rights such that new group members could invite others to join. On the "wall" of their FaceBook group page they posted a special Bonus Code and a link back to their StickyFish program. The results?
- They are building a community of viewers on one of the most trafficked Social Networking sites available. In the first week, around 400 local viewers have already joined the group and are interacting with the station and each othe using message boards, chat, etc.
- They are rewarding (and will continue to reward) their viewers for signing up for this group via their StickyFish Rewards program.
- As the Facebook group members invite friends to join the group, new local residents that may have never been exposed to the station's rewards program are being invited to join the program and given an introductory bonus points…this is a great way to reach local residents that may have never heard of your rewards program.
Setting up an account on Facebook takes about 3 minutes and it's free! Perhaps this strategy is something your station may want to try.
