Complying with CANSPAM | February 20, 2009

One of our US clients inquired with us about an email they were about to send.  Their email promoted one or more third party advertisers and they wanted to know what if any special handling they needed to do to stay in compliance with CANSPAM.  While we can not offer legal advice, and any questions like this should be vetted with your own legal team, we thought we would pass along the guidelines our legal team recommends we follow internally.

Your software has been updated! | February 18, 2009

Minor Release Notes – 2/17/09

A new version of software was released on the 17th.  This release contains both fixes and minor enhancements.  Here's what's been updated in this release…

Fixed: Registration surveys – We discovered a potential formatting issue with surveys that are tied to registration forms.  This issue was corrected.

Enhancement:
Sales Support Blog – You can now access our new sales support blog via a link in the admin under Help.  The blog features valuable information for your sellers and a live chat link that can connect you directly with one of our client success consultants.

Enhancement:
Hide prize value – You can now hide the display of the approximate value of a prize.  To do this, simply enter ‘0’ as the prize value when setting up a contest and the approximate value field will not display on the forward facing site to members.  This could be used for prizes that are “priceless”, such as signed memorabilia.

About our Software Releases

We are constantly hard at work to provide you with the best software in the industry.  Our software releases are divided into two categories – very short small releases that mainly address software fixes but also include small enhancements, and longer bigger releases that include at least one significant upgrade to the platform or new service offering.  Shorter releases will be labeled Minor Release and bigger releases will be labeled Major Release.  If you have questions on any item in a release, please contact us at success@enticent.com.

Minor Release Notes – 1/29/09

A new version of Stickyfish was released on the 29th.  This release contains both fixes and minor enhancements.  Here's what's been updated in this release…

Enhancement: Trade-in Menu Change – The menu for trade-in items has been modified.  The “current” and “upcoming” categories were combined into one category labeled “In-Stock”.  This allows members to see all available trade-in items in one list.

Enhancement: Trade-in Listing – The listing for “In-Stock” trade-in items now displays when a trade-in item will become available.  When users roll their mouse over each item they will see a popup box with this information.

Enhancement: New contest listing page – You can now make use of a standalone customizable contest listing page that features a “cover flow” style flash carousel in which users can browse current contests in your program.  The page also features a ‘search contests’ function and would be linked to separately from your rewards site.  Only clients using the new contest module will have access to this.  More information on getting the new Contest module is available here.

Fixed: Winner notification email copy – In certain cases the winner notification emails for prizes that use our new contest engine contained some errant text in the copy.  The cause of this issue was identified and eliminated.

Fixed: Special characters in contest titles/descriptions – Using certain special characters such as ‘&’ in the title or description of a contest caused an error during setup.  A modification was made so that special characters can now be used without causing an error.

Fixed: Image display in contests setup – The new contest engine contains a WYSIWYG editor for building the display of a contest and a settings tab for general contest settings.  A bug caused Images from the editor portion to display on the screen when you switched to the settings tab.  This bug has been corrected.

Fixed: Manually selecting winner – In certain rare cases clients were unable to access the necessary screens to manually select a winner for a contest.  The cause of the issue was identified and corrected.

Fixed: Featured thumbnail links to contests – Several different pages in the Stickyfish template have a ‘featured’ carousel that displays thumbnail images for featured contests.  On one of these pages the thumbnail images were not linking correctly to the full page custom contests set up in the new contest engine.  This issue was identified and corrected.
